Researcher Night 2024 - Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS - NanoEnviCz

The Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS organizes the scientific and amusing program in the frame of the European project "Researcher Night". The scientists from NanoEnviCz are ready to introduce you the world of catalysis as a tool of change.....Detailed information can be found at the websites www.nocvedcu.cz.

Photocatalysis – transformation using the SUN energy

K. Minhová Macounová: Structure and Dynamics in Catalysis, large research infrastructure NanoEnviCz

How can the properties of semiconductors be changed to become conductive materials? How can sun energy be transformed into electricity? The answers to these questions can be found during on-site visits to our laboratories. We will show you what useful semiconductors look like, how they can react, and how they can be useful.

Catalysis studied with a microscope

J. Morávková: Structure and Dynamics in Catalysis, large research infrastructure NanoEnviCz

Some chemical "transformations" would not take place without catalysts. To observe and study the structure of catalyst surfaces even at the smallest (nanometer) dimensions, we have to utilize the most modern microscopic techniques. You are invited to see some types of zeolite catalysts, carbonaceous catalysts with layers of rare metals, and photocatalysts using a high-resolution transmission electron microscope.

Catalysts – the tools of the change

D. Kaucký: Structure and Dynamics in Catalysis

Catalysis is the process behind many industrial products. And not only that: we cannot even imagine the world without catalysts. One example is ZEOLITE - a specially developed molecular sieve containing channels and cavities arranged in a unique way in its crystal lattice. Come and learn about the procedures for studying and researching zeolite catalysts and how to use them in real applications.
