Summer school for Nanomaterials 2025 - first day at the Technical University of Liberec
The first day (2nd September) of the Summer school for Nanomaterials was devoted to two experimental techniques NMR / HRMS (Revealing Nanomaterial Secrets with Solid-State NMR) and HPLC (Tiny Traces, Big Insights: HPLC/MS).

Revealing Nanomaterial Secrets with Solid-State NMR
As part of the NanoEnviCz project, students took part in the Summer School program hosted by the Department of Nanochemistry at the Technical University of Liberec. The focus of their visit was an introduction to nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) - a key analytical technique in nanoscience and materials research.
The program began with a lecture providing the students with the theoretical foundations of NMR spectroscopy. Through this session, they gained insight into the fundamental principles and the wide range of applications of NMR in chemistry and nanotechnology.
During the hands-on part of the program, the students worked directly with solid-state NMR instrumentation. They prepared their own samples by filling rotors, learned about the general requirements for solid-state measurements, and conducted a real experiment. They successfully recorded a 13C NMR spectrum and were also introduced to measurements of other nuclei, such as 29Si. This practical training offered them a unique opportunity to experience advanced analytical methods available through the NanoEnviCz research infrastructure.
